Office 365 unlicensed product on Microsoft RDS Server 2012 or 2016

By |August 23rd, 2018|Categories: Microsoft, RDS|Tags: , |

Since i ran into a couple of times getting unlicensed product on my Office 365 application running on RDS server, i tought i share my experience on how to solve it. Most articles out there tell you to check if you have an active Office 365 subscription or your internet connection is working and even do a online repair of office 365. What is this all doesn't work? So first time i came across this issue i did all this.  i found one article that took another approach with cscript. Because it said not for shared Computer Licensing scenarios, wich a RDS implementation is, i contacted Microsoft to be sure. to my surprise they told me to do exact the same cscript then in that article. So here are the steps to fix it. (This works on Windows 2012R2 server and Windows server 2016 with Office 365 applications) start commmand [...]

The host returns esxupdate error code:15

By |May 10th, 2018|Categories: VMware|Tags: , , |

When trying to update a host with VUM i got the following error "The host returns esxupdate error code:15. The package manager transaction is not successful" After some searching i found article 2030665 on Vmware site. https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2030665 the article says that you need to recreate the version folder under /locker/packages. in my case the folder wasnt there. But after recreating the folder version and subfolders i resumed the remediation but it just wouldn't update. So i found another article that solved it. Here are the steps i took: Start winscp and connect to the affected ESXi host Start another Winscp session to a ESXi host that has the version folders and subfolders in it Download the version folder from the good ESXi host to your local hard drive. (/locker/packages/6.5.0 in my case) Upload the version folder to the affected host that will not update. (/locker/packages/6.5.0  with the subfolders included) Also [...]

Cumulatieve update voor op Windows Server 2016 for x64 fails KB4057142

By |January 31st, 2018|Categories: Microsoft, Server 2016|Tags: |

Some of my windows 2016 server failed to update KB4057142 So here some steps i took to solve it Reboot the server Stop Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Update service. rename the folder C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution Start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Update service Enabled "give me updates for other Microsoft Products" under Windows Updates -> advanced options Search for updates again. let the other products update first. KB4057142 will fail again but the server needs to reboot again. Try updates the next day to finish update KB4057142 One server still failed so i downloaded the KB from Microsoft catalog site here and manualy update the server https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4057142 This also works on Windows 10 Also check if your AV is of the latest version. For example. Mcafee endpoint protection 10.5.2 an below is not compatible with this update. install version Mcafee endpoint protection 10.5.3 or above. hope this helps some one.
