compare CPU for VMware or other
As a senior systems engineer i took the responsibility to also design VMware environments. So far it been a lot of fun but also sometimes a lot of headaches. Since some customers insist to keep prices low they choose for low CPU like E5-2609 but I prefer the E5-2620 v2 or higher for basic virtualization. so I found I site to compare all the CPU. I think its pretty good one so you can get some stats to tell to your customer why you should take higher CPU level. here is the compare of E5-2609 v2 and a E5-2620 v2 Compare CPU
VMware ESXi unresponsive
Did you ever run into an unresponsive ESXi hosts? well I did this month and it gave me a lot of headache this past weeks I want to share my finding so others can learn from it and also solve it faster and not to have to restart your hosts and all your VM's. So let me tell a little bit of the environment. The customer had a IBM blade H chassis and 3 HS23 blade each 48 GB. All blades are connecting to a fiber IBM DS3524 and for replication we chose for an iSCSI qnap system to keep it cheap. at the moment of unresponsive the VMware vSphere version and ESXi host were version 5.5 U1 So it started short before christmas more exactly 04/12/2014. All the ESX hosts became unresponsive but my VM's kept running. also management network kept responding on ping and SSH connections, but strange enough I [...]

The Lay-out
We chose this project because we could reduce the cost by selecting iSCSI over fiber
