my customer ran into a problem that his exchange server just didn't receive any mail no more or couldn't send mail also. when i checked the mail queue i found the following error: 451 4.4.0 DNS query failed. The error was: SMTPSEND.DNS.NonExistentDomain; nonexistent domain after checking everything from connectors and exchange settings, I started to check just everything, and the first steps i always do is: are the TCP/ip config correct on your network card(s). turns out the DNS 2 entry was set to external dns 8.8.8.8 once you remove this DNS entry and only use the internal DNS server everything [...]

Hello everyone. I ran into some problems migrating from a standard vSwitch to a Distributed vSwitch, an I tought let me share it and maybe it can help someone. P2V Windows 2000 server – vSphere 5.1

I came across a customer where 10 servers were still running on windows 2000 server I used VMware vSphere 5.5 so you can't use VMware convert 5 or higher because windows 2000 isn't supported anymore. here are the steps i made make sure all the windows 2000 server are on SP4 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=4127) and Update rollup 1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18997) make sure you stop service that can cause problems ( antivirus, SQL, exchange, oracle,..) install VMware convertor 4.0.1 on your windows 2000 server install sysprep tools on the sever where you installed convertor 2003 : Path : C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataVMwareVMware vCenter [...]
